CORGI MODEL BLACKPOOL TRAMS

These accurate die cast metal model trams in 1:76 scale (4mm to the foot) are presented as part of the Original Omnibus Range and have proved very popular since their introduction. There are two distinct reasons why this is so. First of all they are popular amongst collectors because of their varied and colourful liveries which allows a large collection to be built up over time. They are as popular with modellers who motorise them for use on their model tramway (and as working accessories on some model railways). This second use causes some friction between collectors, many of whom see their models as financial investments - some of whom don't even remove the tissue paper covering the boxes as this also seems to reduce the value of the model - and modellers who see the motorising process as enhancing the value of the models. Whichever school of thought you subscribe to, its hoped that this listing of all the models introduced by Corgi, plus those planned for release as this is written, will be of interest and help to all.

It should be mentioned that Corgi also produce a range of model die cast trams under the Corgi Classics branding which also contain what are claimed to be models of Blackpool trams, although they aren't actually. There are a number of basic castings of what could be described as generic trams which although similar to prototype trams aren't actually models of any particular prototype. These are then produced in a variety of liveries representing different tramways. They are of a slightly larger scale than the Original Omnibus Company ones. Those featuring Blackpool liveries are:

"Dick Kerr Trams" Double Deck; closed top; open front. Destination: Talbot Square, C992/4. Double deck; closed top; closed front. Destination: Winter Garden, 97262. Destination: Pleasure Beach, 97273. Double deck; open top; open front. Destination: Talbot Square, C991/2. Destination: Blackpool Tower, 97365.

A short single deck tram with "Pantograph Car" type ends, 36903.

There is also a card kit of Marton Tram Depot with reference number 44903

Corgi have also produced a number of Blackpool buses in 1:76 scale over the years but they are outside the scope of this page.
